The beginnings of the Anatomy Department building date back to 1921. Its side wings were constructed at that time. The designed reconstruction by Rogera Sławskiego and Edward Madurowicz transformed the building into one of the exhibition pavilions of the General National Exhibition in 1929. After the exhibition ended, the pavilion encompassing the central part of the building was returned to the Medical Faculty of the University of Poznań. The building was rebuilt after war damages and adapted internally to the current needs of the Medical University.

The planned reconstruction includes interventions in the building's structure ranging from restoration, returning to the original form to the introduction of new spatial elements. In the semi-circular apse of the ground floor, its original open space form will be restored, which after the reconstruction will serve as the Center for Innovative Teaching Techniques. The renovation also concerns the eastern wing of the building with the staircase. In the central part of the building, where the former library was located, a new steel structure will be introduced, creating a space for the exercise and seminar rooms of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy Didactics. Upper lighting will be introduced to lower floors. Spiral stairs will connect all levels of the new space. A number of smaller interventions throughout the building are also planned.
